Karavali Honorary Award presented to social activist Hilda Rayappan

Mangaluru: “Instead of fighting each other on the lines of caste and religion, people should stay united and bring glory to coastal region,” said social activist Hilda Rayappa, on Sunday, December 30.

She was addressing the gathering after receiving ‘Karavali Honorary Award’ during the valedictory of ‘Beach Festival’ at Panambur Beach. She said, “there was a good reputation for our district and many talents of our district have been shining at national and international level. However, the reputation of our district has been ruined by some unwanted incidents in the recent days. There is a need to put brakes on such incidents and all people should live together without any discrimination.”

Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister U T Khader, after presenting the award said,”though our district has tourism potentials it has not been utilised to its fullest.
There is a need to utilise resources properly and we need to create an atmosphere to promote investment by the investors in our district”, he said and assured that the government would support the investors if they are ready to invest in our district.

Later, a musical programme by Manikanth Kadri and folk dance ‘Kangeelu’ enthralled the audience.

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner S Sasikanth Senthil, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar, Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Commissioner Srikanth Rao, Panambur Beach Development Chief Executive Officer Yathish Baikampady among others were present.
