Follow guidelines while celebrating new year : Compol

Mangaluru: Police department has announced that hotelS, restaurants, clubs, resorts and other organisations, which are organising New Year celebrations should end their programme before 12 mid night.

Police Commissioner T R Suresh in a press release strictly informed that those who arrange programmes should secure permission from the Excise Department and submit the same to the local police station. However, the programme must wind up before midnight. He also cautioned of taking strict action against those who violate the guidelines.

The press release also informed that special police teams will be formed to prevent untoward incidents during the New Year programmes. The team will closely observe the prgrammes, which will be organised after securing permission from the department. Meanwhile, action will also be taken against those programme organised without securing permission, the press release said.

Follow these guidelines

* Any New Year programmes should end before 12 am.
* Hotels or institutions which arrange programme must secure permission from the Excise Department and the permission letter should be handed over to local police station.
* Despite permission from Excise Department, programmes should be closed before 1 am
* In the pretext of new year celebration, smoking and consuming alcohol in public places is strictly prohibited.
* Hotel, restaurant,club, resort and other organisations which organise new year programmes should secure permission from Police Commissioner and programmes shall be organised inside their building.
* Any public programmes being organised in public places should end before 12 mid night.
* Students or youth who engage in new year party should maintain discipline. If anyone creates nuisance then strict action will be taken against them.
* Strict action will also be taken against those who creates nuisance on roads or in any public places.
* Action will be taken against those who organise new year programmes without securing permission from the police department.
* Busting crackers in the pretext of celebrating new year too has been prohibited.
* Organisers of the programmes will be held responsible if any chaos occurs during the celebrations.
* Programme organisers should follow the guidelines imposed by the police department and action will be taken if there is violation in the guidelines.
* Organisers should take safety measures like emergency treatment facilities, fire extinguisher systems among others while hosting programmes
