Bantwal: Udupi MP Shobha Karandlaje alleged that the unilateral attitude of senior police officers in the district and their dual stand in the personal conflict of two individuals resulted in tension in Kalladka.

She was addressing a press meet in B C Road after visiting Rathnakar Shetty admitted in a private hospital in Puttur after the violence in Kalladka.
She also said that if the police had taken proper action immediately after the incident, this situation wouldn’t have arisen. “This has proven the inefficiency of police. Immediately, after the incident in Kalladka on May 26, I along with BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa approached Director General of Police and urged him to control the situation through SP. We also suggested him to transfer SP and conduct a probe with an efficient officer. But the department neglected the issue because of the government and political representatives’ pressure.
In the murders of BJP activists like Rudresh, Kuttappa, Prashanth Poojary in Mysore and Bengaluru, the NIA had mentioned the involvement of PFI, KFD. And though we requested to ban these organisations, government has neglected it. Instead they have withdrawn the cases against them and supported them. Government should come forward to ban these organisations,” she added.
Hindu youth targeted
“Due to the pressure from the government and political representatives, the police are targeting Hindu youth and registering cases against them. Western Range IGP Harishekaran has told one of our leaders that Mithun Poojary will be encountered when he is caught. Police also detained Mithun’s father and Yathin. In the peace meetings, police say that they are not arresting innocents but actually are targeting innocent Hindu youth. For votes sake, Congress is appeasing a community. We have maintained the patience and peace but there is a limit. Police, instead of arresting the innocents should deal with the real culprits.
BJP leaders Sulochana G K Bhat, Rukmaya Poojary and others were present.
