Mangalore : There were tense moments at Pumpwell in Mangalore on January 18, Saturday evening for some time, when the Kadri police who rushed to the Hi Bar Lounge and Grill, stopped the party and  evacuated as many as 50 boys and girls who had gathered there for a DJ party during the week end.

In fact the cops had acted swiftly after the Bhajrangdal passed on the information to the former regarding the party and had warned of a raid if the police failed to act. It is learnt, the Bhajrangdal had earlier gathered information that a Muslim youth from Kannur was hosting the party and that several young Hindu women too were participating.

The police, it is learnt, evacuated the boys and girls through the backdoor to avert any untoward incident and also averted another pub attack or homestay like incident. Sources say an entry fee of Rs 200 had been fixed for singles and Rs 300 for couples wishing to attend the party.

It has been gathered that the Bhajrangdal has also requested the police to launch a crackdown on illegal pubs and also to take steps to see that DJ parties ended by 11.30 pm.
