Mangalore: The Komu Souharda Vedike and other like-minded organizations held a protest rally on Friday May 30, from Dr Ambedkar circle to DC’s office to condemn the Kabeer Killing case. The rally was inaugurated by poetess Jyothi Guruprasad.

Kabeer, a cattle trader and resident of Suratkal was shot dead by ANF personnel at Sringeri on April 19. The protest was organised to seek justice to his family.

Speaking to the protestors on the occasion, Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike (KKSV) state secretary K L Ashok, alleged that the Sangh Parivar and the ANF have deliberately embattled Kabeer. He said that Kabeer was an easy target as he  belonged to a minority community and was transporting cattle.

K L Ashok also pointed out that even after his death, the family members of Kabeer were attacked by the members of Sangh Parivar and Bajrang Dal. However the MLAs C T Ravi and Sunil Kumar were seen defending the act. They also made statements in support of the ANF trooper Naveen Naik who shot Kabeer, he said and described it as an unconstitutional act.
“They are constitutionally unfit to be MLAs. If Akbaruddin Owaisi can be arrested for hate speech,  Prabhakar Bhat, C T Ravi and Sunil Kumar too should be arrested. The government should immediately arrest C T Ravi and Sunil Kumar under People’s Representation Act,” K L Ashok asserted.

Ismath Pajeer of KSSV compered the programme. A memorandum was submitted to the chief minister through the DC.

Mohammed Kunhi, state joint secretary of Jamath-e-Islami Hind, Fr William Martis from Udupi, Shafi Bellare, PFI Puttur president and Ali Hasan, president of Meat Vendors’ Association also spoke on the occasion. P B D’Sa, Vasudev Bolar, G Rajashekar and others were present.
