Belthangady: Following the CBI report giving clean chit to Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Dr D Veerendra Heggade’s family in the sensational Sowjanya rape-murder case, Dharmasthala Hitharakshana Vedike members have decided to stage massive rally-‘Sathyakke Sandha Jaya’ (Victory for the Truth) on August 19.

It may be recalled that in the chargesheet, CBI stated that allegations against main accused Santhosh has been proved and the family of Veerendra Heggade had no role in it. Sowjanya was found raped and murdered on October 10, 2012 in Dharmasthala.

Speaking at the press meet, Vedike members Keshava Gowda and Dharmasthala gram panchayath president Chandan Kamath, said that when the CID was investigating the case, Sowjanya’s parents, uncle Vittal Gowda, Kemaru Shri Eesha Vittaladas Swamiji, Mahesh Shetty Timarody had accused that Dheeraj Malla, Mallik and Udaya from Dharmasthala had role in the murder case. There was also false propaganda that Dr Heggade was shielding this trio and family of Heggade was involved in the case.

It was later proved that Santhosh had murdered Sowjanya’s but still there were allegations that Heggade family had a role to play in the case. Hence the government had handed over the case to the CBI and even the CBI has said that Santhosh is the real culprit.

This is a victory of the truth, the organisations say adding that the reason behind the malignant propaganda taken out by a section against Heggade family is still not clear. “The departments concerned and the government must take action against those who leveled these false allegations,” they demanded.

Dharmasthala might have imparted justice as per law but it is yet to receive social justice. With the CBI report, Sowjanya rape-murder case has been solved and the allegations against Heggade family have been proved far from truth. Hence we would hold a massive rally in Dharmasthala, they said.
