Mangalore: A delegation of the DK District Working Journalists Union met Home Minister KJ George here on June 19, Wednesday and submitted a memorandum to him seeking dropping of charges against TV cameraman Sharan who was arrested in the homestay attack case and has presently been granted bail.
The delegation which met the Home Minister included Union President PB Harish Rai, General Secretary Srinivas Indaje, Vice Presidents Jagannath Shetty Bala, Venkatesh Bantwal, Press Club President Ramakrishna R and General Secretary Kiran Sirsikar.
On this occasion the Union thanked the government for dropping the charges against TV journalist Naveen Soorinje who too was arrested in the case. While pointing out that Sharan too has now been granted bail, the delegation requested the government to withdraw the cases against him as he had been to the homestay on the day of the attack, only to report the incident as part of his duty.
