Bantwal: Three persons sustained serious injuries when a jeep which went out of control of its driver  rolled into the river  at Shirankallu near Kanyana on Tuesday June 24.

The jeep belonging to Madavur Moidu Kunhi of  Gurimarga near Muchirapadavu  was driven by Samshuddin (21). It is said he lost control over the vehicle  while  negotiating a curve near the bridge resulting in the vehicle plunging into the  river. The driver as well as other co-travellers namely Ravi (23) and Purandara (30) sustained injuries.

They were initially admitted to a private hospital in Puttur and later shifted to a  hospital at Derlakatte for higher treatment.

A major casualty however was averted as the water level in the river was low. The jeep was later lifted from the water with the help of locals.
