Karkala: State Minister for Urban Development and Udupi District in-charge Minister Vinaykumar Sorake has said that the people should not forget that the BJP which ruled the state for five years, earned the distinction of making the state the No. 1 state in the nation in terms of corruption and looting of resources.


He was speaking at a public meeting held as part of the Bharath Nirman Abhiyan Padayatra of the Congress near the Karkala bus stand on March 15, Saturday. Sorake further said “When Gujarat riots took place, the then PM Vajpayee had said that Modi should be kicked out of power. It was Advani who supported Modi then. The riots have made the nation hang its head in shame. Today, the BJP is publicising Narendra Modi as its PM candidate, even when the Gujarat riots are still afresh in public minds.”
He also said Udupi MP Jayaprakash Hegde has succeeded in achieving big in a short tenure and added he need to be supported in the upcoming elections so that he can continue his good works.
Gopal Poojari, Udupi District Congress President and Gopal Bhandari, former MLA also spoke during the Bharath Nirman Abhiyan Padayatra.
Neere Krishna Shetty, Block Congress President, Amrith Shenoy, Congress leader, TMC President Rahmath Sheikh, Dr Santosh Kumar Shetty, Spokesperson Bipin Chandrapal, local unit Youth Congress President Shubhada Rao and others were present.
