Intl. Red Cross Day celebrated in city

Mangalore : The society can progress when each and every individual inculcates the spirit of service mindedness, said Prabhaker Sharma, Project Director of Pilikula Nisargadhama.

He was speaking after inaugurating International Red Cross Day  celebrations organised by the DK unit of Red Cross Society of India on Thursday May 8. Continuing, he said Red Cross played a pivotal role in  helping those in distress and is always in the lead in serving mankind in the event of disaster or natural calamity in any part of the world. Selfless service is the objective of the organisation, he said.

A.B. Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner presided over the function. Kavitha, Deputy Mayor, Dr Shakuntala, Medical Superintendent of Lady Goschen Hospital, Jacintha D’Souza, Principal of Athena Nursing Home, B Prabhaker Sriyan, President of DK Red Cross Society, Ronald Anil Fernandes, Vice President   and others were present.

Samsara art troupe members presented a skit highlighting the importance of blood donation.
