Illicit affair of wife: Man ends life after poisoning kids

Mangalore: A man committed suicide after poisoning his kids before hanging himself late night on Tuesday February 18. It is learnt, an illicit affair of his wife with a neighbour forced him to take the drastic step.

The deceased has been identified as 48-year-old Sridhar Shetty, a native of Talapady. He was working as a supervisor in a hotel and stayed at Ganesh Complex in Nallasopara, Mumbai.

It is learnt that Sridhar Shetty’s wife had an affair with a neighbour and started living with the latter in the same neighbourhood. Distraught with the situation and the  shame he had to face in the locality, Sridhar reportedly chose the extreme step.

He then allegedly killed his daughters, 9-year-old Shraddha Shetty and 3-year-old Sai Daya Shetty, left behind a suicide note on two walls of the house wherein he said he would not have taken this drastic step if his wife had not deserted him for a youth from the neighbourhood.

Sonali, wife of Sridhar Shetty,  was reportedly having an illicit relationship with a neighbour named Tejas Anoop Joshi. On Valentine’s Day, Sonali had deserted her husband and children, and started living with Joshi. When Sonali visited him on February 16, the two had a quarrel and Sonali reportedly informed Sridhar that she was moving out of his life permanently.
