Moodbidri : Most of the mobile towers set up by private companies in Moodbidri TMC limits are learnt to be illegal. An RTI query has revealed that none of the private companies had sought the TMC permission before setting up these towers in private lands and also on roof tops of buildings.

As per rules, permission of the TMC is mandatory before setting up such towers while in reality the companies after striking a deal with some private land owners set up this tower.

The TMC authorities too have so far not chosen to question this  which in turn has resulted in loss of revenue to the TMC. Several mobile towers  are set up on roof tops of buildings and the owners of such buildings also earn revenue from the same.
