Moodbidri: The town police seized a pick-up truck that was illegally transporting cattle from Hosangady at Gantalkatte, near here on Thursday August 22 morning.  The police also arrested the driver while his accomplice managed to flee form the spot.

The traffic cops increased the night patrol at the instruction of sub-inspector A K Timmayya, while ASI Krishna and police personnel Santosh intercepted the pick-up truck and seized 6 cows and 3 calves. 

The arrested has been identified as thirty-year-old driver Santosh Kumar Jain, a native of Eedu in Karkal taluk. His accomplice Shoukat managed to flee.  A calf was treated at veterinary clinic.

Santosh Jain was presented before the court that awarded 15-day judicial custody.
