Mangalore : As Dakshina Kannada district is rejoicing for winning the top honours in the II PUC results announced on Thursday May 8, the city of Mangalore is cheering its toppers at the state level.





Venkatesh Kamath of Canara Pre-University College in Mangalore has topped the state in II PUC exams in Science (PCME) Stream. Pooja Baliga of the same college bagged the second rank in Science(PCMS) Stream.
Venkatesh Kamath, son of G Suresh Kamath and G Sudha Kamath of Padavinangady has scored 594 out of 600. He has scored 100 in Chemistry, Electronics and Mathematics and scored 99 in Physics.
Venkatesh who is elated over his performance, aspires to pursue engineering studies.
On the other hand, Pooja Baliga who secured second rank in PCMS scored 593 marks. She is the daughter of Radhakrishna and Chandrika Baliga.
Other outstanding scorers from the city are Sridevi Bhat of Expert PU College who scored 590 in Science, Dhanashree Deshpande also of the same college who scored 588 and Sanchitha Kamath from St. Agnes College who scored 100 per cent marks in four subjects in Commerce.
