Mangalore: Dinaker Shetty, honorary president of the All College Students’ Union has claimed that it has been 384 days since he joined the Congress and that he had no links with the Sri Rama Sene. He also clarified that he had only taken up a few cases of the Sri Rama Sene in his capacity as an advocate.

Speaking to the reporters on Wednesday, March 26, he said “I had joined the Congress accepting its secular ideologies during the previous MCC elections. I had worked even during the assembly and Youth Congress elections. A few in the party who could not digest my progress have mislead the senior leaders.  My membership in the party has been withheld on the ground that I am a main accused in the pub attack case.”

Continuing, he clarified saying, “I am not a Sri Rama Sene office bearer. As an advocate, I only have taken up a few cases of the Sene. My opponents have taken up this issue and have projected me as communal. Though it is 384 days since I joined the Congress, some channels which are unaware of this are trying to project that I was inducted into the party in the morning and expelled in the evening.”

He said he supported Janardhana Poojary who has opposed the Yettinahole project and added to this he fully favoured the leader who is free from any corruption charge.

Sahaj Rai was also present at the press meet.
