The meeting will be chaired by AB Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada District. The pipeline will pass through ten villages of Bantwal Taluk. The DC has urged respective land owners to attend the meet.
Earlier three meetings which were convened by the district administration had failed to arrive at a consensus. The land owners have not budged to the district administration’s attempt to negotiate the compensation amount; rather they walked out of the meeting previously even before the DC proposed the compensation.
The DC had proposed to give a compensation of six times of the guidance value. So far, the highest compensation offered for HPCL project in the State is in Hassan where it is four times of the guidance value. But considering the population and land value, the DC had decided to fix a compensation of six times of guidance value in Mangalore taluk and five times of the guidance value in Belthangady taluk.
