House burgled in Gangolli ; gold worth Rs 5 lakh stolen

Kundapur : Thieves who broke into a house located close by the Gangolli Fish Market  have decamped with gold worth nearly Rs 5 lakhs apart from some cash. The theft took place in the house of one Naqeeb who worked overseas.

The thieves gained entry into the house by burning the back door and then unbolting it. They had ransacked the entire house even as four members of the family were fast asleep. Naqeebs wife was however not in the house.

It is learnt they stole jewellery weighing 24 sovereigns apart from a cash of Rs 2500. Even two cell phones which were kept close by the place where the family members were sleeping, were stolen.

Gangolli police are conducting investigations. Finger print experts and a dog squad too has been sent to the scene of the crime.
