Home minister assures womens police station for Udupi

Udupi: State Home Minister KJ George has said that he has issued clear-cut directive to the police department to register any complaint lodged by the public.

Addressing a meeting  held at the Congress Bhavan in Udupi on June 18, Tuesday, the home minister  admitted that the image of the police department has taken a beating due to the acts of a few. He said such incidents will not be tolerated in the future and added that the department must function in such a way that it gains the confidence of the public.

KJ George also stated that he would hold talks with officials concerned with regard to plans to open an all-women police station in Udupi.

State Minister for Urban Development Vinaykumar Sorake, while pointing out to several  instances that took place during the BJP rule  bringing  disrepute to the districts, directed the police department to ensure that such incidents did not recur in future.

Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj also spoke on the occasion. Gopal Poojari, Udupi District Congress President, MA Gafur, former district Congress Chief, Veronica Carnelio, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor and others were present.
