Mangalore:The nations economy can be strengthened when we have a good higher education system which helps in enrolling maximum number of students, said Dr Jancy James, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Kerala.
She was speaking after inaugurating a UGS sponsored national workshop on Changing Contours of Indian Economy held at Eric Mathias Hall of St Aloysius College on September 24, Tuesday. The workshop was jointly organised by the Department of Economics of the College and Association of Mangalore University College Teachers(AMUCT).
Continuing, Dr Jancy James regretted the fact that most students who come out of higher educational institutes lack the skills and expertise. There is a need to give a serious thought in this direction, she added.
The function was presided over by Rev.Fr.Swebert DSilva, Principal, St.Aloysius College presided.
The resources persons of the workshop were Dr A Narayana, Assistant Professor in Azim Premji University and noted columnist, Dr.Muzzaffar Assadi, Professor, Department of Studies in Political Science, University of Mysore and Dr.Mani K.P, professor and head, Department of Economics, Dr.John Mathai Centre Campus, Trichur, University of Calicut.
Dr.Norbert Lobo, President of AMUCT, Dr.P.Sajimon, Head of the Post Graduate Department of Economics and Ligory Mendonca, HOD, Department of Economics were among others present on the occasion.
