Heavy rain along with thunder lightening lashes Bantwal

Bantwal: Heavy rains lashed Vitla area here on Wednesday April 30th. Four people sustained minor burn injuries due to the heavy thunder and lightning that accompanied the rains.

The injured are identified as Hemalatha (45),resident of Mittur of Idkidu Village, her son Dinesh (20), Usha (23) resident of Maji of Veerakamba village and Anitha(22) from Amtur village.

The heavy rains began at 7.30 pm and were accompanied by heavy thunder and lightening, which continued for two hours. Due to this water entered many of the shops. The injured are admitted to nearby hospitals.

Reports indicated that the electric meter and the pump shed of Hemalatha’s house are damaged completely. A compound wall has also been damaged after a wall near Vitla Panchalingeshwara temple collapsed. Rain water also entered a few shops like Empire Mall and Spicy hotel on the Vittla – Puttur road. The rain water caused inconvenience to the vehicles. The rain uprooted trees in some regions and caused a  traffic jam on the main roads. Power supply was stopped at Meginapete in Vitla till the Mescom cleared the road.
