Moodbidri : A lorry laden with hay was partially gutted after it came into contact with a live wire at Alangar in Moodbidri TMC limits on February 1, Saturday evening.

The mishap took place when the lorry owned by  Rita Transport of Kashipatna was passing  in front of the Holy Rosary Hospital at Alangar. Locals and fire service personnel rushed to the spot to douse the fire. When the water in the fire brigade vehicle got exhausted, local water tankers rushed to the spot for help. Locals feared a major casualty as even a transformer was located nearby. However fire came under control much to the relief of the public.

Moodbidri police too arrived at the spot and prevented people who had gathered in large numbers from  coming close to the spot of the mishap.
