Mangalore : Kamalakshi, headmistress of the DK ZP Higher Primary School at Panelabarike at Pajeer village, has alleged that two teachers in her school have been harassing her for being a Dalit and were also forcing her to quit her post.
The headmistress who participated in the SC/ST Grievance Redressal Meet held at the Mangalore Police Commissioners office on May 26, Sunday, told the Commissioner that her complaint in February this year against Ramakrishna, one of the teachers who harassed her, was futile. She said she had complained along with the SDMC Chief who was a witness to the harassment, but the police filed B report as the name of witnesses were not mentioned in the charge sheet.
The headmistress said she was being continuously harassed by Ramakrishna and his wife Rashmi who joined the school as assistant teachers in 2011. She also stated that she has lodged a complaint with the BEO.
Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar has assured to look into the matter.
Meanwhile, it was alleged at the meeting that Hariappa Muthoor,a Dalit member of Kuppepadavu GP was abused by Chandrahas Shetty and Dinesh Moolya for opposing illegal sand mining in the area. The two have also been accused of barging into Hariappas house and then abusing him and his mother and threatening them of dire consequences.
It was even alleged that the Bajpe police have been apathetic despite a complaint. The Commissioner assured to look into this case too.
There was also a complaint that the police have been filing B report in cases of harassment of Dalits.
D Dharmaiah, DCP (Crime and Traffic) and M Muthuraya, DCP (Law and Order) were present.
