Hajj Ghar to be built at Kenjar : Minister for Wakf

Mangalore: Minister for Minority Welfare, Hajj, and Wakf Qamar-ul-Islam has said that two acres of land has been earmarked at Kenjar  close by the Mangalore International Airport to construct the ‘Hajj Ghar.’He also said that  a sum of Rs 3.5 lakh has already been released and the fencing work has started.

Speaking to media men here on December 15, Sunday, he said the Hajj Ghar will be able to accommodate around 1,000 Hajj pilgrims from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikmagalur, Hassan and Kodagu districts. The Hajj Ghar will be functional by 2015. Likewise the construction of Hajj Bhavan in Bangalore is also in the final stage, informed the minister.

 The Minister also said information centres that furnish details about the schemes meant for the welfare of minorities will be opened in ten districts. Each centre will have two personnel, he informed.
