Newskarnataka – Mangalore
Mangalore: Gulf NRI Forum President PB Pinto has requested the authorities to give permission to local or International Airlines operators to fly between Mangalore-Kuwait.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday February 26, Gulf NRI Forum President PB Pinto said as Air India Express had wounded up its flights service between Kuwait – Mangalore on 13 Feb 2014, a request has been made to grant permit domestic or International Airline operators.
PB Pinto pointed that there are many non-resident Indians (NRIs) in Kuwait who frequently travel to coastal Karnataka – from Bhatkal, Kundapur, Udupi, Chikmagalur, Dharmasthala and Bantwal to Mangalore and northern parts of Kerala. He said that there are approximately more than 1, 50,000 members (from this region) who live in Kuwait alone. They travel to their native at least once a year, he pointed out.
Lack of direct flight to Mangalore from the Gulf will affect the growth of tourism in coastal region, the forum added. It further said that Mangalore is known for its educational facilities, particularly in the professional sector. Students from many countries travel to Manipal, Mangalore, Moodbidri as well as Nitte, near Karkala. Direct flight will help many such students, he added.
He said as the Kuwait government prohibits Drugs, Narcotics and chemicals, people travelling to Kuwait are advised to take all precaution to ensure that they do not carry such substances; either in person, luggage or in medicines. Violation of rules will attract strict penalties include imprisonment followed by deportation. If your medicine contains any banned or restricted substance, it is advisable not to carry them on your flight/travel into the Kuwait, he said.
“However, if for medical or emergency reasons, you need to carry any medicines, please ensure that you have a medical prescription from a licensed doctor, or if treatment was undertaken abroad, you must carry both a doctor’s prescription as well as a detailed medical report, both of which should be duly attested.,” Pinto further informed.
The members of the Forum also urged to public to be beware of fake Visa Agents.
