Group attack on youth for complaining against use of mike in mosque

Karkala : A  group of assailants has been accused of assaulting  two youngsters, one of whom had lodged a complaint  with the police against the noise pollution caused  due to the use of the mike in the mosque  at Banglegudda Kudremukh colony, citing inconvenience to his aged father who was  ailing. The incident was reported on February 10, Monday night.

Those assaulted were Ashok Nayak and his friend Vikram Pai. Ashok had lodged a complaint at the town police station against the use of mike in high volume that too indiscriminately at the mosque.

Agitated over this,  the assailants named Addu, Basheer, Razak, Muneer, Usman, Mushtaq,  Sohail, Afeez and two others  had  intercepted Ashok who was returning home in his bike. They even assaulted Vikram Pai who came to the rescue of his friend and threatened the two.

The victims said locals too had lodged police complaints several times against the menace  of mike in the mosque. Every time the police issued instructions, the problem subsides for a few days, they pointed out.

A complaint has been lodged in the local police station.
