Mangalore:For a moment it seemed as if the people of whole of the city of Mangalore had descended on the streets  to witness the wonderful and grand  Shobhayatra of the Sri Gokarnanatha Temple at Kudroli which  celebrated the Mangalore Dasara with much grandeur. The  amazing and spectacular Shobhayatra carrying the idols of Lord Ganesha, Nava Durgas and Goddess Sharada which were worshipped at the Temple for nine days were taken in a colourful procession on October 14, Monday evening,  along with  several tableaux, huli vesha trucks and other art and cultural forms, that were a great treat to the eyes as people watched the grand procession keenly by standing on either sides of the roads.

People not only from the city but tourists from various parts of the state and nation had descended to the city to watch this spectacle called Mangalore Dasara  which has gained fame across the world.

Some of the tableaux this time exhibited novelty  and were much appreciated by the gathering. The huli vesha teams as usual entertained the masses  and continued to be the favourite of both the young and the old.

The procession which passed through Mannagudda, Ladyhill, Lalbagh, KS Rao Road, Hampankatta, Carstreet and Alake culminated at the Temple where the idols were immersed in the Temple Lake after religious rituals. It was indeed  a great sight to see the idols being immersed. The idol of Goddess Sharada was immersed at around 9.25 am on October 15, Tuesday  thus drawing curtains to the celebrations.
