Bantwal:An accidental fire has destroyed a tailoring shop at Ananthady village in Bantwal taluk on October 13, Sunday night. The shop  is owned by one Shashidhar of Babanagatte. The entire shop including the cement sheet roofing and all the clothes inside the shop have been gutted in the fire. The loss has been estimated at Rs 50,000.

People residing in the vicinity of the shop who noticed the fire at 1 am, immediately informed Shashidhar. Though he  rushed to the spot, nothing much could be done, as the shop had reduced to ashes by then.

Though at the outset it seems an accidental fire, there is a strong suspicion that someone might have set the shop ablaze. Moreover there is no chance of an electric short circuit as the shop has no power connection. Shashidhar had also not visited the shop on Sunday.

The missing of a cement  slab for seating arrangement inside the shop has also given room for doubts. Even the sewing machine has been gutted in the fire. Shashidhar has been running the shop since 15 years.

Vittal police have visited the spot.
