Mangalore: As the result of intensified sea erosion at places like Mogaveerpatna, Subash Nagara, Hillary Nagar and Mukkachery in Ullal under Mangalore assembly constituency of Dakshina Kannada district has created panic among residents of the area.

On Saturday ,Minister for health and family welfare U T Khader, and deputy commissioner N Prakash visited the sea erosion-prone area of Mogaveerpatna to review the situation.
Past 17 years, the district has not witnessed heavy rains . This monsson heavy rains have lashed the costal region , due to which sea erosion worsened this year. Temporary measures to avoid further erosion between Ullal and Someshwara stretch are being taken, Khader said.
The state government will take measures to construct anti-sea erosion walls as a permanent solution and the work will start once the weather turns favourable after September. Compensation will be declared for the victims of sea erosion and the quantum of aid will be decided soon, the minister said.
While fifteen years ago, boulders were dumped to avoid sea erosion after that no measures have been taken to address the issue.
Four houses were damaged and a house collapsed on Friday night due to sea erosion, said Sadananda Bangera, a resident of Mogaveerpatna.
