Newskarnataka-Mangalore
Mangalore:The head of the opposition of state legislative assembly and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has urged the govt. to respond to the woes of the farmers across the state and take the necessary steps immediately.
He was addressing the media in the press meet held in the circuit house, Mangalore.
He said that the state government has no concern about the farmers in the state. The farmers have been affected due to the excess of rain in the five districts. The excess rain has resulted in the loss of 220 crores of areca only in Dakshina Kannada district.
There are many ministers in the district but they are busy giving the statements instead of visiting the rain affected areas. And the notable fact is that none of the ministers in the state including the chief minister have the time to visit the affected areas.
The annoying fact is that the chief minister is going to China when the farmers are in great need of response from the state govt. The farmers are waiting for the compensation but the officers are denying the compensation through their irresponsible reports.
According to the govt. reports 1,60,420 farmer families have been affected and they have to given the compensation of 73 crores as per the NCRF guidelines but the govt. has distributed only 8.41 crores of two districts which is really a sad fact to know.
He said that the chief minister should immediately intervene and see it it to that the compensation is distributed with immediate effect and if he fails to do so then the JDS party will fight for the compensation along with the common people.
Shri. Kumaraswamy is has come to the district as a part of his examination of the rain affected areas across the state and he will be leaving to Mysore from here.
JDS leaders Jeevijaya, Amaranatha Shetty and others were present at the occasion.
