Govt keeps its word on text books supply

Bantwal : There is a good news for schools and students. As promised the State Government has already supplied text books for the academic year 2014-15 to all  taluks. As far as Bantwal Taluk is concerned 93 per cent of the books to be supplied  free of cost  to government and aided schools have  arrived, while 83 per cent of the text books meant to be supplied to private schools have been supplied and also distributed.

Demand-Supply: There is a demand for 3,15,756 text books from government and aided schools and of these 2,94,217 books have already been supplied. As far as private schools are concerned there is  a demand for 1,08,141 text books and 88,163 books have been supplied. The books are stocked in a room of the Kalladka Higher Primary School and are supplied to schools in accordance to the demand.

A DD for Rs 44 lakhs has already been sent to the Directorate of State Text Books for supply of text books to private schools. The  books have been distributed to the respective schools in the second week of May while the aided and government schools will get text books from May 24, informed Sheshashayana Karinja, Block Education Officer.

The private schools themselves have to make arrangements for the transportation of books to their schools while  education department  will make arrangements to supply books to government and aided schools. The Block Education officer has said if the schools  arranged the books to be taken to their schools  and keep it aside they will be transported din lorries to the respective schools.

Here it is worth mentioning that last year  the government had invited the ire of the schools and parents by not  supplying the  text books on time. This time however the government has ensured all text books except a few were supplied well in advance. The remaining text books are expected to be supplied by May end.
