Mangalore : A goods train which had arrived at the MCF Yard at Panambur for loading of chemical fertilizers met with a mishap on July 10, Wednesday. The train which had halted at the yard, had all of a sudden moved on the reverse, crossed the gate and almost landed on the NH 66 much to the surprise of people of the area.

However, the train crew averted any untoward incident by rushing to the spot and applying sudden brakes. It is believed that the  coupling joint between the engine and compartments had  snapped resulting in the mishap.  On Wednesday even the  gates  had not been closed by the security personnel though they usually close the gate once the train arrived.
