Bangalore: Geetha Shivarajkumar, wife of  Kannada  actor Shivarajkumar and daughter of  former chief minister S Bangarappa will be contesting  the  upcoming Lok Sabha elections as a JD(S) candidate  from Shimoga  constituency.

Former  CM BS Yeddyurappa  is the BJP candidate from this constituency. The JD(S) which was in search of  a  strong candidate against Yeddyurappa, has ultimately finalised the name of Geetha Shivarajkumar.

In fact, the JD(S) was keen on fielding a member of the Bangarappa family from here since long.  There were even rumours that Bangarappa’s wife Shakuntalamma itself may be the candidate. But, now Geetha Shivarajkumar has been chosen as the candidate.  Even Shivarajkumar has given his consent to his wife’s candidature from Shimoga.
