Mangaluru: A domestic gas cylinder blast reduced a house to ashes on Monday late light, at Keenya Santhyagutthu on the outskirts of the city.

The house belongs to Ganesh Shetty, an agriculturist. The family was away on Monday as they had been to Belaringa temple fest. The incident came to light only when they returned home on Tuesday.

Gold ornaments, areca and coconut stocked in the house and other commodities have been lost in the accident. The total damaged has been estimated at Rs 20 lac.

Keenya GP officials have visited the house to take stock of the situation.
