Mulki: Pakshikere in Mulki is facing garbage problem since some time mainly owing to the apathy of the local administration towards regular disposal of garbage.

One can see piles of garbage dumped just 10 meters away from the heart of Pakshikere and in close vicinity of the Gram Panchayat office. Residents complain that the Pakshikere-Kemral Gram Panchayat was completely apathetic though the unhygienic surroundings are posing health hazards to the locals.

There is also a complaint that the Panchayat has no facility of a vehicle for garbage disposal and that neither has it taken measures for waste segregation.

Already several people in the area have contracted malaria with some even hospitalised. The  unclean surroundings have also given rise to fear of  Dengue and contagious diseases, the villagers said and   added that the gram panchayat is to be blamed for all their problems.
