Karkala : A man who was found making merry with a young woman in a house at Banglegudda in the town has been brutally assaulted by a group of assailants on Tuesday June 10. The police who swung into action immediately have taken a few into custody.

The injured person is Sudhir Raane, a resident of Bailur. It is learnt, a group of fanatic  who gathered information of his presence in a house  with a woman of another community, barged into the  house, thrashed him black and blue and even scissor  his hair, behaving in a highly uncivilised fashion.

As if this is not suffice, the entire episode was recorded on mobile and then circulated on Facebook and Whatsapp.

Sudhir Raane who  was profusely bleeding was rushed to the Taluk Government Hospital and later shifted to KMC Hospital Manipal following the advice of doctors.

Meanwhile, an allegation is heard that Sudhir was  a man of dubious distinction and has several cases against him. It is also said that he had lured a  lone woman  residing in a house where money lending business was done and another woman into his trap.

Though police took several into custody in connection with the   assault those found innocent were immediately released while the rest are still subject to questioning.

The police act of swinging into action immediately after the incident has been widely appreciated as this latest instance is believed to be an attempt to disrupt peace in the area which was peaceful  after the murder of  Banglegudda rowdy Sulaiman.
