Free Helmets to two wheeler riders

Mysore:The two-wheeler riders who were nabbed by traffic police for not wearing helmets had a surprise on Wednesday, September 4th morning.

The two-wheeler riders who were stopped by the traffic cops for not wearing the helmets in front of city’s Sanskrit Institute did not get any scolding, instead were honored.  The police collected a fine of Rs 100, and in return handed over a free helmet worth Rs 250. Besides, the cops handed over a rose and a box of Mysore pak.  The cops also advised the motorcyclists that their lives are precious, wear helmet for the sake of to their families.

Those motorists who were fortunate to get royal treatment, no doubt were aghast over the gift for not wearing the helmets.

The city cops have embarked on an innovative programme in collaboration with K M Praveen Charitable Trust association, in order reform the frequent two-wheeler offenders and also to lay importance on wearing helmet.

The media entrepreneur Rajashekar Kote after inaugurating the programme, said that helmet is essential for the two-wheeler riders as its compulsory by traffic rules.  He also advised all two-wheeler riders to wear helmets at all times, as one will never know when the tragedy takes place, advised Rajashekar.

DySP M M Mahadevaiah appreciated the Trust for joining hands with the city police in creating awareness on the importance of wearing helmets by two-wheeler riders.

The flex signs – “Safety first, Wear helmet compulsorily” were seen at the location.
