Bantwal: Both BJP and Congress who projected themselves as poor men’s party during the past elections are acting as puppets of capitalists and imperialists, sidelining the progress of common folk, alleged CPI (M) district secretary Vasant Achary.
Addressing the protesters in front of taluk office, B C Road here on Tuesday September 3, opposing the classification of APL and BPL cards, Achary said that the government is looting the poor in the guise of ration cards. It is cheating the poor by distributing BPL cards to un-eligible people, alleged Achary. The poor are distressed owing to Congress led union and state government, by hiking the prices of essential commodities and privatization. The plunge in rupee value against US $ is attributed to unrealistic policies of union government, alleged Achary.
‘The remedy lies in streamlining the rationing system that would put an end to all related issues,’ said Achary. He urged the governments to introduce unified ration cards by withdrawing APL and BPL cards. The people fed up with the earlier state regime led by BJP, voted for Congress that will never become a alternate choice to BJP, criticized Achary. Congress will also face the fate of BJP if the former does not address the grievances of poor, cautioned Achary.
The party leaders B Vasu Gatti, Sanjeev Bangera, Ramanna Bittal, B Narayan, Y K Narayan, Uday Kumar, Vimala and others led the protest on the occasion.
The protesters held a protest rally passing through city roundabout, B C Road, hurling slogans against anti-people policies of governments and presented a memorandum to Tahsildar to forward the same to CM Siddaramaiah.
