Mangaluru: If you use to park your vehicle in the “No Parking” zone, don’t expect to find it in the same place when you return. The traffic police have decided to “take” away such vehicles using towing vehicles.
This is to ensure that the parked vehicles at the prohibited zone do not affect traffic movement. The issue was raised during the weekly phone-in programme at the office of the Commissioner of Police on Friday, December 14. A caller informed about the traffic congestion due to the violation.
Responding to it, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) Uma Prashanth informed that four towing vehicles will start operations in the city area within a month. “These will tow away the vehicles parked in ‘No Parking’ zones. For violation by the four wheelers the penalty will be Rs 1,100 and Rs 750 for the two wheelers”, she informed.
Callers also complained about non-issuance of tickets in private buses, rude behaviour by bus conductors, discharge of dirty water into the road by fish carrying vehicles among others, to which the officials assured of strict measures.
