Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Police have recovered eleven motorcycles worth Rs 7.50 lakh on nabbing four inter-state bike lifters.
The arrested are Mansoor (19), Shabeer (19) and Thoufeeq (22) from Puttur and Majeed (25) from Kadirudyavara, Belthangady.
Addressing a news conference on Wednesday, June 1, Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Bhushan G Bhorase said that on Tuesday night.
He said that Mansoor and Shabeer were speeding towards Perla on a stolen RX-100 motor bike and when the duo tried to escape on being stopped by the police, the cops nabbed them near Perla after a hot pursuit.
During interrogation, they revealed the names of Thoufeeq and Majeed and also told that the RX 100 was robbed from Kukkarabettu and they were taking it for sale Kerala.
The gang is said to have involved in several bike lifting cases in Madikere, Belthangadi and Sullia.
The SP also announced cash reward to the team that cracked this case.
Commenting on mass leave protest of the police personnel on June 4 he said that, police welfare is a continuous process and that the department will do what it should do.
He said that he will personally visit all the 15 police stations and hold talks with the constables and police personnel.
Adding that two stations have withdrawn from the leave protest, the SP said he was confident of convincing the constabulary of the district to withdraw from the protest.
