
Mangaluru: Following heavy rain and gusty winds in the district, four people sustained injuries after a massive peepal tree fell near Mangaldevi Temple, here on Friday, June 8.
Praveen Suvarana (49) resident of Nandigudde, Surekha Kotian (53), Tejaswini (23) of Marnemikatte and Naveen Madivala of Jeppukuddupadi are the ones who were injured in the incident.
As it was a Friday, several devotees were seen in and around the Mangaldevi temple premises to visit the famous temple.
Fire Service personnel and MCC officials were pressed into action soon after the incident.
On Saturday, June 9, it was reported that trees collapsed near the Nehru Maidan and near the Railway Station. An old building also collapsed in Bhavani Street, Market Road but there were no causalities reported.
