Kasargod: A  truck laden with borewell-digging equipment  slipped into a ravine near the hilly areas of Kattankavala village near Chittarikkal claiming the lives of  four labourers and  leaving nine others injured. The mishap took place on January 26, Sunday night.

It is learnt, that the driver lost control over the truck after which it is slipped into the gorge, some 40km from Kanhangad.

 The truck with Tamil Nadu registration was carrying heavy equipment.Moreover the steep and hilly roads made it difficult for the vehicle. It is also learnt that the vehicle’s brake system failed while moving along the slopy road.

The identity of the deceased is not yet known. It is believed that they are migrant labourers possibly from Tamil Nadu as the truck had the same registration.

 The bodies have been sent to the Pariyaram Medical College while the injured are receiving treatment at the hospital.
