A former KSRTC bus conductor, Devalsab Tahsildar, has recently been sentenced to a two-year jail term following charges of sexual harassment of a minor.
The accused is alleged to have sexually harassed a girl from Bantwal by making inappropriate signs and showing her a book with pornographic content while she was traveling home on the bus.
The girl’s mother subsequently filed a complaint with the Bantwal town police station, leading to the filing of a chargesheet against the conductor.
This behavior is a punishable offense under Section 12 of the POCSO Act. In addition to the rigorous imprisonment, the former bus conductor will also have to pay a fine of Rs 15,000. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional three years of imprisonment.
