President Murmu on India-Bangladesh Ties: “Heart and Soul Relationship”

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu emphasized India’s enduring solidarity with Bangladesh, highlighting the shared journey of development and historical camaraderie. Speaking to a visiting youth delegation from Bangladesh at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, she underscored the unique bond between the two nations, rooted in their common heritage, culture, and sacrifices.

Expressing pride in India’s role as a friend and partner during the Liberation War of Bangladesh, President Murmu stressed the importance of preserving and nurturing this spirit that binds the countries together. She emphasized the deep cultural connections, including mutual appreciation for art, music, cricket, and cuisine, as well as shared literary treasures such as the national anthems authored by Rabindranath Tagore.

Affirming India’s unwavering commitment to strengthening its friendship with Bangladesh, President Murmu highlighted the significance of the vibrant youth populations in both countries and their potential to shape a sustainable and peaceful future. Encouraging the delegation to explore various facets of India’s diversity and advancements in science, technology, and the arts, she urged them to contribute to the ongoing efforts towards building a prosperous and harmonious region.

President Murmu commended the inclusive composition of the delegation, representing diverse backgrounds and perspectives from across Bangladesh. She emphasized the visit as a symbolic bridge between the two nations, reflecting the enduring spirit of cooperation and friendship that characterizes the India-Bangladesh relationship.

The Bangladesh Youth Delegation program, initiated in 2012 by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, aims to promote mutual understanding, exchange of ideas, and appreciation of each other’s cultures among the youth of both countries.
