Mangalore: DM Aslam, former president of the district JD(S) minorities cell has declared that he would openly campaign in favour of Mangalore South constituency Congress candidate JR Lobo in the upcoming assembly election.
Speaking to reporters in Mangalore on April 30, Tuesday, he said though he has already tendered his resignation to the primary membership of the party, the JD(S) State President HD Kumaraswamy had told him that he would not take any decision regarding the resignation until May 15. He said he was frustrated by the attitude of district leaders of the party and would openly campaign for Congress candidate JR Lobo this time.
Aslam said the JD(S) has lost its existence in the district and that except Amarnath Shetty no other candidate would secure more than 2000 votes. He said his main objective was to defeat the JD(S) candidate from Mangalore South SP Changappa.
Stating that Lobo was a sincere person, Aslam said the sitting MLA despite being elected four times has failed to initiate developmental programmes.
Rahim, Mansoor, Farooq, Sattar and others were present at the press meet.
