Mangalore: The members of Popular Front of India (PFI) staged a demonstration in front of the Konaje Police station on Monday, demanding immediate arrest of Roshan M.S and five other pro-Hindu activists for forcing Sonia D’Souza to marry a Hindu man recently. The members termed the incident as ‘Kesari Love Jihad’.

Sonia D’Souza who married Roshan M.S, fled from his house on the fourth day of marriage, claiming it was a forced marriage. She filed an ‘attempt to rape’ a complaint with the Mangalore commissioner of police against Roshan and five other pro-Hindu activists, and besides, stated it was a ‘forced marriage’.
Addressing the protestors, Anwar Sadath, chairman of Creative Foundation said the Sangh Parivar must answer to the people as they have directly encouraged forcible marriage of Hindu man and Christian woman. He said, “They make a hype of ‘love jihad’, but they are part of ‘kesari love jihad’. This is the agenda of the sangh parivar leaders. They want to divide people on religious lines for political gains, he added.
A.M. Attavulla, district president of PFI said, “the concept of jihad emerged as a fight for the support of widows, deprived sections and for social justice. But, the pro-Hindu activists have spoilt its goodness for political gains. Love jihad is a false propaganda”. He gave the example of cyanide Mohan, who lured over 20 women and allegedly killed them for money. When women belonging to the Hindu community were missing, the Sangh parivar pointed their fingers to us, but they are silent when cyanide Mohan was arrested for kidnapping several women and killing them’, he added.
He also said inter-faith marriage is accepted in a democratic and secular country like India. But, it should not be communally motivated, he said. “The police department should be impartial in this case and must speed up the case”, he added.
SDPI state committee member Alphonso Frank, Zafar Sadik Faizee, Pavoor Panchayat member Valerian D’Souza, PFI district secretary Hanif Katipalla were present.
Later, the members of PFI submitted a memorandum to ACP Uday Nayak to speed up the inquiry.
