Mangaluru: Five people have been arrested by City crime branch (CCB) police on Tuesday in connection to the murder of rowdy sheeter Charan at Vamanjoor here on August 19.

The arrested have been identified as Muhammed Raheef (19) from Vamanjur Kelarai Kody, Muhammed Rizwan (28), a resident of Moodushedde Shivanagara, Nawaz (23) from Gurpur, Muhammed Shah Rukh (20) and Muhammed Mustafa (19), both from Moodushedde.

According to sources, Muhammed Rizwan, to settle scores regarding an old issue murdered Charan. A case had been registered at Kavoor police station in the past for his tiff with Charan. Rizwan has a case registered against him at Kollur police station and a bike theft related case at Mangaluru (north) police station.

It may be recalled Charan (31), a resident of Capitanio, was travelling by auto from Moodshedde with his wife and child when four persons came in a Bolero, waylaid and attacked him. Charan who was seriously injured, breathed his last at a hospital.

Inspector, Sunil Y Naik and sub-inspector, Shyamsundar made the arrest near the old toll gate at Panemangalore on Tuesday morning. The vehicle used for the crime and the arrested persons are in the rural police’ custody.
