Mangaluru: The key accused in the recent murder case of fisherman Raju Kotian has been arrested by the City Crime Branch police.
Mohammed Asif(22) is the accused arrested. Another accused Sohail surrendered on Friday, with which all six accused in the murder case have been arrested.
It may be recalled that fisherman Raju Kotian was found dead with his face smashed and other injuries, near Kotepura on April 12.
Earlier, four persons Abdul Rannees from Kelagebeedu in Ullal, Mohammed Aswir(19), Abdul Mutalib(20) both residents of Ullal and a juvenile were arrested by the CCB team led by Inspector Valentine D’Souza including ACP Kalyan Shetty, Inspector Ashok P, Dinaker Shetty, and PSIs Shyamsunder, Bharati and Rajendra.
CCTV footage helped the police to nab the culprits. Five people were seen fleeing in the footage. Around ten suspects were nabbed by the police. During questioning it was revealed that six people were involved in the murder.
It is learnt that they had murdered Raju with an intention to trigger communal riots. While the three of them don’t have any criminal records against them, one among the two absconding is said to be having a criminal background.
