Belthangady : If reliable sources are to be believed, a team of Naxals have visited two houses on Shishila Sudegandi Road in Shishila village of Belthangady taluk on June 28, Friday. However, villagers who say they have informed the police, are tightlipped and refuse to divulge details for fear of inviting the ire of Naxals.
According to sources, a group of five Naxals led by Vikram Gowda and Sundari, considered the most wanted Naxals, have visited two houses and left the place after having food and after seeking support of the villagers in their movement against eviction of original inhabitants from forest land.
However, some other villagers argue that some people who had visited the place in connection with road development works have been mistaken as Naxals. Even the police, it is said, have no clear-cut information regarding the Naxal visit.
Incidentally, Naxals had visited the village last year on July 10 and 13 following which ANF had intensified combing operations. Subsequently a Naxal named Dinker was killed in an exchange of fire.
