Kolar: State Health Minister and Kolar District in-charge Minister UT Khader  was gheraoed by farmers  on March 4, Tuesday  for his conflicting stand on the Netravathi River Diversion and Yettinahole Projects.

Khader had arrived in Kolar to take part in the progress review meet when he had to face the ire of the members of farmers organisations who had gathered in front of the Zilla Panchayat office and staged a protest. This resulted in tense situation for some time.

Khader who addressed the protestors, said he was in favour of implementation of Yettinahole project and that efforts would be made to convince the opponents of this project. “To oppose the project now is as good as  purchasing a ticket after the train chugged off the station,” said Khader.

Khader had earlier said that   he had opposed the implementation of the project when it was approved during the chiefministership of Sadananda Gowda. But now the Congress government has decided to implement the project. There  is no way to change the decision of the government and neither is it proper to oppose it,  he had argued.
