Bantwal : Election officials raided the Bantwal TMC office on March 19, Wednesday evening following rumours that officials were holding a meeting on drinking water supply in the presence of a councillor by violating the election code of conduct.
The Election officer had earlier received a complaint that the meeting was being held by the TMC Chief Officer Ganesh. It is learnt, the tahsildar immediately contacted the TMC Chief Officer directing him not to hold the meeting with a due warning that he may have to face action like his predecessor Jattanna who faced the charges of distributing cupboards to beneficiaries during the TMC polls.
It is learnt, still the Chief Officer had convened a meeting of workers who were entrusted the task of supplying water to different areas. However, the Chief Officer who as away in Mangalore had arrived for the meeting in the evening.
Later, when the election officials rushed to the venue it came to light that the meeting was convened by the officials themselves and no councillor had attended it.
The Tahsildar Malleswami later said there has been no violation of election code as no councillor was present.
